JOIN GREENFACEBOOK.COM

We need your help to get Facebook.com running on 100 percent renewable energy. If you are on Facebook please join this facebook group and invite your friends.

Why Facebook? Why now? Because the company just announced plans to run its massive new data centre in Oregon (US) on dirty energy. Facebook is now the second most-visited website in the U.S., and one of the top websites in the world. It's time that the company cleaned up their act and put their weight behind the struggle to stop climate change.
Like the late, great historian Howard Zinn said -- you can't be neutral on a moving train.

How the internet is powered is an issue not just for Facebook but for the entire IT industry. The industry holds many of the keys to reaching our climate goals by innovating internet based solutions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy efficiency. Technologies that enable smart grids, zero emissions buildings, and more efficient transport systems are central to efforts to combat climate change. IT companies should quit coal, go renewable.

We can use our facebook networks to spread the word and encourage the company to join the cause now, at this critical time in its development.

See you on the Facebook Group!
